The Steelers are likely going to draft a young QB to back up and develop behind 30-year old Ben Roethlisberger.  Roethlisberger is starting to prove to be a little more brittle than he was early in his career as all of the hits have added up.  He was 7-6 (53.8%) as the Steelers’ starting QB in 2012.  He played in 13 games (all starts) for the Steelers last year and he completed 284 of 449 passes (63.3%) for 3,265 yards with 26 TD passes and 8 INTs (97.0 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 26 times for 92 yards (3.5 ypc) last year.  He has now played in 127 games (126 starts) in his career for the Steelers and he is 87-39 (69%) during the regular season.  Roethlisberger has now completed 2,374 of 3,762 passes (63.1%) for 29,844 yards with 191 TD passes and 108 INTs (92.7 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 318 times for 1,036 yards (3.3 ypc) with 14 TD runs so far in his career.

33-year old Byron Leftwich likely played his last game for the Steelers in 2012.  He played in 2 games (1 start in which the Steelers lost) and he completed 25 of 53 passes (47.2%) for 272 yards with 0 TD passes and 1 INT (54.9 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 1 time for 31 yards, and it resulted in a TD.  Leftwich has now played in 60 games (50 starts) so far in his NFL career and he is 24-26 (48%) as a starting QB in the NFL.  Leftwich has now completed 930 of 1,605 passes (57.9%) for 10,532 yards with 58 TD passes and 42 INTs (78.9 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 137 times for 415 yards (3.0 ypc) with 10 TD runs so far in his career.

38-year old Charlie Batch might get to stick around for 2013, likely as the #3 QB.  Batch played in 3 games (2 starts) for the Steelers in 2012 and he was 1-1.  He completed 45 of 70 passes (64.3%) for 475 yards with 1 TD pass and 4 INTs (64.9 QB Rating).  He didn’t get to carry the ball last year.  Batch has now played in 82 games (55 starts) in his NFL career and he is 25-30 (45.5%) as a starting QB.  Batch has completed 908 of 1,604 passes (56.6%) for 11,085 yards with 61 TD passes and 52 INTs (77.2 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 172 times for 637 yards (3.7 ypc) with 6 TD runs.
